Western Red Cedar

Grown in British Columbia and shipped throughout the world, Western Red Cedar is an exceptionally beautiful wood. In its natural state it is very rich looking and radiates a certain warmth. The mellow tones range from light amber to deep brown. It remains subtly aromatic for a long time. The wood is free if pitch and resin but contains natural oils acting as preservatives and helping resist insect attack and decay.

Pacific Coast Yellow Cedar

Found only on the Pacific Coast of North America, the rare and beautiful Yellow Cedar is at its best in the mountainous coastal forest of British Columbia. A tough, solid and very durable tree, the Yellow Cedar is noted for its very slow growth and longevity. Appearance and properties of Yellow Cedar have always been highly prized because of its many superlative qualities.

Canadian Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir from Canada and the USA may be graded and shipped for structural purposes in the species mix 'Douglas fir- larch' which comprises Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and western larch (Larix occidentalis). Although a native of North America, the tree has been extensively planted in Europe and the UK.  The heartwood is light reddish-brown in colour, usually quite distinct from the lighter coloured sapwood. The abrupt change and contrast in colour between early-wood and late-wood bands, produce a prominent growth ring figure which is a feature of plain-sawn surfaces and of rotary-cut veneer. The wood from trees grown in the UK appears to have less resin than the North American wood, and to some extent is of more rapid growth.

Siberian Larch

Siberian Larch is a sustainable old-growth timber that has been used in construction for centuries. Its popularity lies in the fact that it is aesthetically beautiful, naturally durable and long lasting. Architects specify Siberian Larch for a variety residential and commercial applications; including schools, museums, stadiums and bridges. The main benefits of Siberian Larch are its impressive dimensional stability, low cost of installation, low maintenance, high manufacturing standards, and the fact that it is an aesthetically beautiful timber. However, the most amazing feature of Siberian Larch is its natural resistance to decay.
